Nis America Releases New Trailer and Information for RPG The Longest Five Minutes

Nis america launched a new system trailer for their upcoming game The Longest Five Minutes. The JRPG title features fun cinematic and anime-like visuals with a retro and heavily pixelated art style.

According to The Longest Five Minutes official website, players must take on the role of Flash Back, a hero on his journey to “face the origin of all evil, the Demon King himself, but suddenly loses all memories of his adventures.” Even though Flash forgets some of the signature battle moves and where he’s from, his “ally’s words and the Demon King’s taunting trigger flashbacks, bringing his memories back piece by piece.”

The Longest Five Minutes has a unique introduction, as players will immediately face a battle against the Demon King as the game starts. In the trailer he appears as a large, menacing and glowing monster who Flash Back cannot remember.  However, Flash’s reexperience power allows him to recall the memories of his journey while simultaneously fighting the Demon King; players will have to “relive all of Flash’s memories from the day he began his quest: trials and tribulations, squabbles with friends, and even the acquiring of his mighty sword,” all in an RPG format. Some memories may seem unnecessary in fighting the great Demon King, but all experiences add to Flash’s need to remember and use his ultimate move to save the world.

Flash’s friends travel with him on his memory recovery journey as well: a tough guy Magician Regent Nightfever, a picture-perfect priestess Clover Shirotsumekusa, a clumsy martial artist Yuzu Nanakorobi, the worldly peddler’s son Yanagi Musashibou, the magic scholar Chloe Fuunji and the coward ninja Kogure Humach all volunteer to help Flash Back with his hero duties and his quest to remember everything.

Recovered memories will be stored in a memory album so experiences can be relived, and memories that have incomplete quests can be revisited for completion if they were missed during the initial play through. Flash can also take breaks of sorts, taking time out of his busy questing and monster hunting schedule to play mini games such as slot machines and an arrow shooter as seen in the trailer.

The Longest Five Minutes will be available in 2018 for PC, PS Vita and Nintendo Switch consoles. A special limited edition Nintendo Switch set is currently available for pre-order on Nis America’s website.
