Nickelodeon Announces Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, A Game Similar to Smash Bros.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a new platform fighting game that pits your favorite childhood Nickelodeon characters against one another in pitched combat. Nickelodeon revealed the game and its first trailer today in an announcement from publisher IGN. Its roaster includes a lot of familiar faces from popular Nickelodeon franchises like Spongebob Squarepants, Rugrats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Danny Phantom, The Loud House, and many more. The game is currently being developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs and will release in Fall 2021 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. With a gaming style similar to Super Smash Bros., the game has already garnered attention from fans online as #DannyPhatom was trending in the U.S. on Twitter earlier today.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will feature 20 levels based on Nickelodeon shows including a “Jellyfish Field” from Spongebob and the “Technodrome” from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The game is also equipped with single-player, multiplayer, local, and online play that will allow up to four players to battle it out against each other. The online play will allow gamers to put their combat fighting skills to the test as they compete in competitive matches with players around the world. You’ll also be able to unlock different features for your Nickelodeon characters that will earn you new combat moves and bonus points for an in-game gallery. It is unknown as to how players will gain access to these yet, but with the game just being announced today, details are sure to come as launch day gets closer.

Another feature of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is that it will contain “rollback netcode.” This code simulates and predicts upcoming frames within the game–predicting players’ actions before they happen. Rollback netcode is said to be one of the best codes, especially for fighting games, as it permits fast inputs from becoming registered quickly. Many have been impressed with the game’s addition of this code as even the beloved Super Smash Bros. doesn’t have this embedded into its game.
