New Wave Toys Reveals Street Fighter II: Champion Addition x Replicade

The Street Fighter series has a long running time of being one of the most well known one-versus-one fighting games. It started off on an arcade machine with special ‘pressure pads’, and transitioned to being high definition on the most recent console models. From 1987 to modern day, the unique characters and fighting styles has kept coming back to be a part of fans’s collections. But the collection is only getting bigger, and a little more retro.

New Wave Toys, the designers and creators behind premium video game collectibles, has been officially tapped by Capcom to create a new addition to the Street Fighter line-up. It’s also an addition to their Replicade family, with the Street Fighter II: Champion Addition x Replicade. This ⅙ size arcade machine plays the original Street Fighter II: Champion Edition and Super Street Fighter II Turbo arcade games, just… a lot smaller. Though it being smaller doesn’t change the outcome of the play style.

In a highlight video that talks in further detail about the upcoming mini replicade machine, New Wave Toys brings in Michael “Bizarro Mike” Martin, a Street Fighter Pro to test it out. He goes on to talk about how the play style is tight due to its size, but that doesn’t stop him from going forth and doing the tricks he’s familiar with.

The video also explains all the details about the mini replicade and how each area is a perfect recreation of the original arcade machine. However, the main changes are an LCD screen that won’t burn out, and a USB rechargeable battery for play that doesn’t require being plugged in all the time.

The video also shows off two people playing the machine. Because this is currently up for pre-sale, those who do pre-order it will get a second controller for their friends to play against them. Though, the mini replicade does have modern controller capabilities.

At only 12 inches tall, this mini replicade packs a lot of punch. Street Fighter II: Champion Addition x Replicade is currently up for pre-sale at $99.99USD and plans to ship out by Summer of 2019. For more information and details about the machine and how it runs, check out New Wave Toys’ page for it. The pre-order is only up for a certain amount of time, and it is limited edition, so only a finite number will be made.
