New Valkyria Chronicles & Remaster Announced For PS4

Update [11-20-2015]: The first teaser trailer for Valkyria: Azure Revolution was released today

Original Story [11-17-2015]:

Valkyria Chronicles fans have a lot of news to be excited about. Unveiling in this week’s issue of Famitsu is the newest entry in the Valkyria Chronicles series as well as an HD remaster of the original 2008 Playstation 3 title.

The fourth entry in the series, titled Valkyria: Azure Revolution, will launch for PlayStation 4 in Japan in winter 2016. The game will be developed by Media Vision, the same developer who worked on the third installment.

The Valkyria Chronicles remaster is set to debut February 2016 in Japan for Playstation 4. Aside from the updated graphics the game is said to include new downloadable content and trophy support. A Valkyria: Azure Revolution demo will be included at release with Sega taking direct feedback from players on the fourth title.

So far no information has been stated on whether or not the newest entry or the HD remaster will be coming to North American audiences. The original Valkyria Chronicles became available in the Steam Store last year. Though originally launched on the PS3, later series installments came on the PSP platform with the third title, Valkyria Chronicles III, never making it to western territories.

More details are to be released in the Famitsu issue coming Thursday November 19 including an interview with game developers and more screenshots. Initial reports of the interview show chief producer Youichi Simosato hinting the game’s music being scored by a “famous name.” Coverage on this story will continue as more information arises.
