New Square Enix RPG, Dramatic RPG Kamitsuri Announced

Square Enix, after releasing a teaser trailer earlier in the week has officially announced Dramatic RPG Kamitsuri. This title translates to Dramatic RPG god fishing. Dramatic RPG Kamitsuri is going to be released in Japan sometime this Summer and there is still no word on whether or not the game will be getting North American localization. The game is going to a mobile game, available on both Android and iOS devices. Dramatic RPG Kamitsuri is also now available for pre-registration in Japan, with a reward of in game currency for all those taking part in the pre-registration. Dramatic RPG Kamitsuri also has its own official website which can be viewed here.

This latest entry into the catalog of Square Enix will also have its own manga series. The series is going to be serialized on MangaOne, which was relayed via the game’s PR twitter account.Despite being only a mobile game, the series is getting the full new IP treatment, missing only the accompanying anime series, which as far as anyone knows, could already be in development.

Dramatic RPG Kamitsuri, like the title suggests, seems to be a story that will revolve around a variety of deities. In this game’s case the deities will be the 8 million gods and goddesses of Shinto, a religion that a huge portion of the Japanese population believes in. Specifically, the game seems to be focused on the forces of light and dark that exist between and within the many, many gods of Shinto.

Dramatic RPG Kamitsuri also released a new trailer today, briefly showing off some of the gameplay for this new Square Enix RPG. The gameplay looked like a normal mobile RPG, with the characters being presented in the “chibi” art style that is typical in these kinds of games. There also seems to be somewhat of a puzzle solving element game. This is based on the brief footage shown in this new trailer. How exactly this element will be part of the game has yet to be announced. The new trailer can be viewed below.

Carlos Barragan: likes video games. He likes them so much, in fact, that he writes about them. He likes other stuff too.
