New Leisure Suit Larry Game Announced for PC

Last weekend, observant customers noticed a listing for a new Leisure Suit Larry game on the marketplace before it got taken down. Now, publisher Assemble Entertainment has confirmed that the posting wasn’t a fluke, and we’ll be getting a new Leisure Suit Larry game this fall.

Subtitled Wet Dreams Don’t Dry (a likely nod to the game D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die), the newest game in the Leisure Suit Larry series will be developed by German studio, CrazyBunch. It will apparently take place in the 21st century as the titular lovable loser bumbles his way through the modern world of dating. There have been allusions to smartphones usage with apps like “Instacrap” and “Timber”, and Larry’s late 80’s worldview colliding with modern society “harder than the breasts of a lusciously-stacked blonde jogging along a beach.” There has been no word yet on whether there will be a drinking game based on encountering Millennial jokes, but it doesn’t exactly sound like a smart, self-aware story about a fish-out-of-water learning how society has moved on quite a bit from the 80s.

This new Leisure Suit Larry game doesn’t exactly have the highest expectations to meet. While the series actually did start out strong and had a bit of cleverness, it really petered out when the video game market arrived in the 21st century. Not counting the 2013 remake of the original, the last two games in the series are the forgettable 2004 release Magna Cum Laude and the “so bad it’s horrible” 2009 game Box Office Bust. It’s safe to say that not many people are holding out on Larry Laffer’s newest adventure being amazing.

Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry will be released on the PC late 2018. The pre-announcement listing stated it would be released October 24, but that date may not be for certain.
