New Gameplay Details & Features Revealed For Monster Hunter Rise; Free Limited Time Demo Releases Tonight

Today, Capcom shared some new details regarding Monster Hunter Rise including a new trailer with new gameplay features, locales, and monsters that everyone can look forward to when the game releases on March 26, 2021. They also provided more details on the demo which will be available for a limited time starting tomorrow January 8 until February 1.

The new trailer revealed the first look at the Frost Islands, one of the locales that players will travel to in Monster Hunter Rise. Long ago, this used to be a nest of huge dragons as many hunters came and tried to slay them but they weren’t able to succeed. Each locale like the Frost Islands will have a large variety of endemic life that players can use in various ways while they hunt. Monsters that players will be able to find and hunt in The Frost Islands include Goss Harag, Barioth, Khezu, Great Baggi, Lagombi, and Tigrex. Monsters that were introduced in the trailer but are from other locales are Mizutsune and Magnamalo.

Goss Harag attacks using blades of ice that it creates with its own breath. Barioth has huge fangs and sharp spikes that it uses to freely move around on icy surfaces. With Khezu, players will have to watch out for its long twisty neck that it can use to close the distance and attack. The Khezu can also release electricity from its body. Great Baggai can catch its prey by dousing them with a fluid that can knock them unconscious. Lagombi will use its belly and glide around the snow like a sled. The Tigrex is extremely aggressive and uses its well-developed limbs to rush at its prey dealing heavy damage with its claws and jaw. Mitzutsune can generate bubbles that will hinder your movement greatly. Magnamalo, the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Rise is enveloped by a carapace hard as armor. It will also attack with its tail and release gas that looks like hellfire.

The demo will include 4 modes as well as access to all 14 weapon types for players to try out. There are two quests and two tutorials. With Training, players can learn the basics of monster hunting, including an introduction to the new Wirebug mechanic and Palamute riding. Wyvern Riding allows players to enter an arena to experience Wyvern Riding, a new feature that allows hunters to ride and guide monsters for a period of time. The Beginner Quest will have players hunt Great Izuchi and is great for first time players or hunters who need a refresher course. The Intermediate Quest has players hunting Mizutsune and it’s a fierce challenge for experienced players only. The two quests can be played solo or local/online multiplayer.

The demo provides a total of 30 quest attempts between the beginner and intermediate quest. the two training modes don’t count towards the limit but once the limit is reached, these modes will no longer be available.
