New Content Arriving for Conquer Online

Conquer Online, one of the oldest free-to-play RPGs in existence, will be bringing in new content in the form of an expansion titled ‘2nd Ninja War.’

In a press release, Chinese publisher and developer TQ Digital Entertainment, a wholly owned subsidiary of NetDragon Websoft, announced that the new expansion, which arrives tomorrow on August 12, will be adding a new class on ninja to the game, namely the Shadow Ninja. The Shadow Ninjas, in the context of Conquer Online‘s lore, are a clan of ninjas who were defeated in a civil war between another clan on ninjas known as Dark Ninjas.

This upcoming expansion sees the beginning of a second civil war, and the Shadow Ninjas will be introduced as a playable class, along with their new epic weapon, called Nobunaga’s Claw. Shadow Ninjas will also have access to a number of new skills, namely Shadow Clone, which summons several clones to defend the player, Twilight Dance, which allows for long distance attacks, Super Twofold Blade, which allows for attacks to be focused for greater range and damage, and Fatal Spin, which is probably something that will prove fatal to anyone caught in its spin.

Conquer Online was first introduced as far back as 2003. A 2.5D MMORPG with gameplay similarities to Diablo, this free-to-play martial-arts-tinged game allows players to select from a Monk, Ninja, Archer, Trojan, Warrior, and quite bizarrely, a Taoist. Conquer Online touts itself as being very easy to pick up and play, so easy in fact, that it is perfectly playable on mobile devices such as the iPad. The game’s appeal is such that is has amassed a fanbase to the tune of over ten million accounts.
