New Battle Royale Game Tetris Royale Announced for Android and iOS Devices

The Tetris Company has announced that they are partnering with developer N3TWORK to bring a slew of new Tetris games “built from the ground up for mobile devices.” These games will release in all territories except for China. The first of these games will be the second Tetris battle royale game titled Tetris Royale.

Tetris Royale follows in the steps of the Nintendo Switch exclusive battle royale entry in the series, Tetris 99, which launched earlier this year. The game will feature numerous game modes for players to experience including the 100 player battle royale mode, daily competitions featuring “thousands of players,” and, the single player mainstay, Marathon mode. Players who complete daily challenges will earn a variety of rewards including customization option, power-ups, and boosters that can be used in the battle royale mode.

The founder and CEO of N3TWORK, Neil Young, stated, “Our team at N3TWORK is inspired to partner with this incredible brand and create new ways for millions of mobile game players around the world to play, compete and enjoy Tetris at an unprecedented scale.”

Tetris is a timeless pop culture icon that has shaped the history of video games and is truly loved around the world.

Maya Rogers, the president and CEO of Blue Planet Software, stated, “Tetris Royale is just the start, and one that we think players will really enjoy. We look forward to letting the battles begin.” With how successful the Tetris 99 Maximus Cups have been, the third one was just held last weekend, and now another competitive Tetris game, it will be interesting to see if The Tetris Company and N3TWORK will only focus on the competitive side of Tetris for their games or if they’ll release a solely single player focused game similar to last year’s Tetris Effect.

Tetris Royale will be releasing on iOS, both iPhone and iPad, and Android devices. However, the game currently has no planned release date as of yet, but a beta for the game will release in some territories at some point this year.

Zachary Dalton: I have a major passion for video games, the stories they tell, and writing about them. Avid believer that video games present the best storytelling opportunities out of any media, and that needs to be conveyed. Former competitive Pokemon player. Attended university to study game development. Wouldn't be who I am today without games.
