Despite the cancellation of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the Pokemon-like MMO, TemTem’s development will continue and an official next-gen console release is still slated for 2021. Announced during the Sony State of Play conference for August, the developers at TemTem have stated that the full 1.0 versions of the game will be releasing on Xbox Series X and PS5 following the game’s graduation from Early Access in early 2021. The Nintendo Switch version of TemTem is also set to release in 2021, though no other information has been released about specific release window. The developers have announced that those who have pledged and backed the project for the Xbox One and PS4 versions have the option of upgrading their versions to next-gen for free, swapping to PC or Switch versions of the game or they can opt for a full refund. The developers also released an official statement on the announcement on their Kickstarter, “As the next-gen approaches and as Temtem keeps growing we made the decision to fully focus our efforts on bringing the best possible game experience to players on the newest hardware.”
TemTem is the latest monster capturing, battling and training MMO title from Crema that is heavily inspired by Nintendo’s Pokemon series. Already released via Steam Early Acess and the Humble Bundle, TemTem takes all of the classic aspects of Pokemon and brings it to an MMO-based experience. The game’s official website gives some insight into the story, “catch new Temtem on Omninesia’s floating islands, battle other tamers on the sandy beaches of Deniz or trade with your friends in Tucma’s ash-covered fields. Defeat the ever-annoying Clan Belsoto and end its plot to rule over the Archipelago, beat all eight Dojo Leaders, and become the ultimate Temtem tamer!” Much like in Pokemon, players can capture, battle, and trade their monsters with other players online, but TemTem gives a more multiplayer-based experience compared to the traditional single-player style of Pokemon. Players can customize their looks in a multitude of different ways, own housing, play the campaign co-cooperatively, and meet other trainers online in the game’s world.
The announcement of the next-gen release for TemTem also included a new announcement trailer (linked above) for the game that gives a look into the deep world. Starting on its 2021 console release, players will immediately be able to play with others in the game’s online world. More information about the game’s development and news can be found on the official Kickstarter page.
