With our article last month talking about the successful conclusion of the Moon Hunters campaign, which ended with $178,986 of a $45,000 goal on Kickstarter, Square Enix Collective is excited to announced yet another project that they are supporting, Black the Fall! The Kickstarter page for Black the Fall from the Romania-based Sand Sailor Studio, is now live.
Black The Fall, is a side-scrolling action adventure game that is inspired by classic games like Another World and Flashback. The game will give players a modern action game with a background that has been set in a post-communist industrial world. The Kickstarter campaign for Black the Fall has been given the goal of £25,000 ($40,000), with an end date being October 31st. “The game is already partway through development – all the way to completion.”
Black The Fall was released back on July 4th for PC/Mac/Linux via Steam Early Access. In the game, you played as amnesiac Black, and the game allowed you to explore, solve puzzles, and it was up to you to decide how the game went, when it came to dealing with the ‘strange, hungry things that live in this haunting place.’

“We’re really excited to launch our Kickstarter today,” said Cristian Diaconescu, lead game designer at Sand Sailor Studio. “In Romania there aren’t many options for game developers to find funding in order to make games. So being able to reach a great audience of dedicated gamers, with the help of Square Enix Collective, is a great opportunity for us!”
Phil Elliott, the creator of the Collective project mentioned, “Cristian and the team are a really dedicated, talented group of people, and I’m really proud that we’ve been able to help them build support for their game idea. It’s clear from the trailer that they have a great vision, but now it’s over to the community to help make the game a reality.”
