Latest Resident Evil 3 Remake Trailer Showcases Nemesis

This Tuesday Capcom debuted their latest trailer for the upcoming survival horror title Resident Evil 3 Remake. This week’s trailer gives fans their first proper look at the updated Nemesis, the massive Umbrella-designed monster that’s after protagonist and series staple Jill Valentine as she struggles to survive Raccoon City at the beginning of the viral outbreak.

Resident Evil 3 Remake‘s Nemesis looks even more stressful to deal with than he was in the 1999 original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis for PlayStation One. Nemesis was originally equipped with a devastatingly deadly rocket launcher, but the new and improved enemy has upgraded his arsenal and can terrorize Jill Valentine with a flamethrower in Resident Evil 3 Remake. The Remake Nemesis is built on an improved version of the AI used to power the Tyrant in last year’s Resident Evil 2 Remake, and Capcom made life-size model to capture Nemesis’s “beauty” using photogrammetry technology.

The new trailer also gives the first look at the updated and upgraded Hunter enemies from the Resident Evil universe and a closer look at mercenary Carlos Olivera, who has received several design (and maybe some personality) changes for his appearance in Resident Evil 3 Remake. The trailer also shows scenes that feature the characters Mikhail Victor and Nicholai Ginovaef. Capcom has confirmed that there are sections in Resident Evil 3 Remake where the player takes control of Carlos to progress the game despite the new narrative and single ending.

Resident Evil 3 Remake takes place a bit earlier in the timeline than Resident Evil 2 Remake, and that means Raccoon City itself is less devastated by the zombie outbreak that Leon and Claire find around the police station. Players can expect more exploration, more action, and as shown in the trailer, more locations and more color. The RE Engine that powered the sticky, grimy Resident Evil 7 and last year’s Resident Evil 2 looks vibrant this time, showcasing bright neon signs on the streets in Raccoon City. Resident Evil 3 Remake‘s Raccoon City is still in chaos, but there’s more life and more to see as Jill Valentine survives the chaos and her pursuit by Nemesis throughout the updated version of the classic survival horror title.

Capcom shared that Resident Evil 3 Remake will also come with Project Resistance, an asymmetrical multiplayer online game that features a group of survivors who need to cooperate to best the Mastermind, a player-controlled enemy who prevents the survivors from escaping Umbrella’s local experiments.

Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 Remake is set to release on April 3rd, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Angel Tuohy: I'm a fan of a lot of different games in different genres, and my favorites are Dark Souls, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Tekken, Persona, Resident Evil, and NieR. I think games are a brilliant way to tell a story, but it's important to me that the game is fun to play too. I've recently received my Master's degree in Literature.
