The video game community is abuzz over the recent State of Play, especially with the official announcement of the remake of Resident Evil 3. Capcom as a whole has been doing exceptionally well for the past couple of years, and this is no more evident than this recent bit of news. The company has announced that the remake of Resident Evil 2 has now exceeded more than 5 million sales in it’s entire lifetime, which is amazing considering that the game has been out for less than one year.

Even more impressive is that also means that the remake has now officially outsold the original 1998 Resident Evil 2, which is currently sitting at 4.96 million lifetime in sales. When the remake launched in January of this year, it almost hit that milestone in less than a week. Sales slowed to a crawl soon after as more video games began to release throughout the year, but it picked up at some point as it has now defeated its predecessor in terms of overall sales.
Speaking of the remake, fans took notice as a brand new mysterious achievement popped up on Steam almost immediately after the RE3 reveal that sent fans looking for answers. Titled “Chasing Jill” the achievement also comes with the description “Read a letter left behind by Jill.” Clearly something is going to be added into RE2 at some point where you as either Leon or Claire will find a letter from Jill, who is one of the protagonists of Resident Evil 3.
Resident Evil 3 will launch on April 3, 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The excitement will undoubtedly continue throughout the week as The Game Awards are tomorrow night. 15 brand new games are supposed to be announced on top of the already star studded awards show, making this one of the most anticipated nights of the video game calendar. The remake of RE2 already bagged the top prize at the Golden Joysticks last month, and they are also nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, which they could very well win as well.
