Konami Reveals The Newest Entry in the Silent Hill Series

Today, the hotly anticipated Silent Hill Transmission Broadcast surprised Silent Hill fans with a plethora of new announcements, including the long awaited new entry into the Silent Hill franchise: Silent Hill F.

Set in 1960’s Japan, this new entry within the Silent Hill franchise is sure to transfix old and new fans with its described hauntingly beautiful and terrifying world, only emboldened by its cinematic trailer. Despite there being little to no plot details shown, we are given a glimpse into a town being corrupted by enthralling parasitic flowers. A school girl in her tattered uniform is seen running away from living red vines before being engulfed by the parasitic plant life, ending with the violent image of her face melting off.

Like most Silent Hill trailers, their violent visuals stick with you and it seems like this cinematic trailer is no different. Regardless, the cinematic trailer exuded the haunting yet beautiful aesthetic the Silent Hill franchise is known for, following a frantic young woman in tattered clothing being taken over by grotesk spider lilies.

Developing Silent Hill F alongside Konami  are Neobards Entertainment, a game developer based in Taipei Taiwan known for their past work on Resident Evil: Resistance and Resident Evil Re:Verse. However the most notable person on Silent Hill F’s development team would be the game’s writer, the acclaimed Ryukishi07. Those within the visual novel and anime scene would know of his most popular works Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko When They Cry. Both visual novels and their anime adaptations struck audiences with their atmospheric and dreadful horror and memorable cast of characters, making the author a perfect addition into the Silent Hill team.

Other projects announced during the Silent Hill Transmission event include a Silent Hill 2 remake developed by Bloober Team, Silent Hill Townfall, and a live real-time interactive series called Silent Hill Ascension.

Caitlyn Taylor: New media and entertainment have been apart of my life since I was very young, and I don't think that interest will ever go away. When I'm bored, I immerse myself in lore videos no matter the length.
