With another State of Play means new game reveals and trailers, and with this State of Play, we got our first look at Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen by Ikumi Nakamura’s new studio, Unseen. We got a good look at the game’s art style, gameplay, and a 2027 release window.
Kemuri: Hunt Unseen looks to be a high-octane adventure game where you play a Yokai Hunter in the chaotic city of Kemuri. You will confront the paranormal as you traverse through the alleys, rooftops, and ruins. You can either do it alone or co-op up to two other players. Since you are a Yokai Hunter, you will mainly be dealing with Yokai with whom you can form contracts to wield their powers and grow stronger as you go. The Yokai themselves will be a blend of traditional folklore and original Yokai with a modern spin. In the trailer, we got a good look at how you will obtain the power of the Yokai: by wearing them. Each Yokai will have a style you can wear in order to form contracts and grow stronger. The game’s art style is a standout, as it is extremely expressive and very poppy in its animations and fighting.
Overall, Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen is a single-player action game with the ability to play co-op with two other players, and you will be a Yoaki Hunter traversing the city of Kemuri and taking on Yokai and forming contracts with them in order to use their powers and grow stronger. This is Unseen’s first title as the studio is brand new, but from the looks of it, they don’t have much to worry about, as the game looks great and looks to be a hit with players. Kemuri: Hunt Unseen doesn’t have an official release date as of now, only a window of 2027, so expect much more and keep an eye out, as this looks like it’s going to be a big hit.
