IGN Expo Day 2 Recap: Antab Studios Unveils Cyberpunk Dystopian Shooter Foreclosed

The second day of the IGN Expo Summer Of Gaming 2020 has been completed, and with it, a number of incredible game trailers were revealed for upcoming games this summer. Much like the first day the Expo was filled with a number of interviews from various developers such as Nik Mueller and Chris Wingard Of Panda Games, Jamie Jackson of Mythical Games, the creator of Samurai Jack Genndy Tartakovsky, as well as Antab Studios founders Andrea Tabacco and Lara Gianotti. One of the most interesting games revealed is the cyberpunk action-shooter game Foreclosed.

The game is set in a dystopian future in which every human has brain implants that allows them to interact with the city or even basic interactions. In this future, every child is given a set of brain implants by the state. This fact plays a major role in the story as well as in gameplay. According to Antab Studio founder Andrea Tabacco, “the story of our character takes place because when you are old enough in this universe, companies can buy the identity debt of any citizen. Since the implants you get from the state have a cost, that cost represents your debt to have an identity in this environment, as well as to have any transaction with the city. The companies then buy these debts from the state and the people have to work for the companies to pay their identity debt.” In the case of the protagonist Evan Kapnos however, the company that owned his identity debt has gone bankrupt under mysterious circumstances, meaning his identity has been foreclosed upon. The protagonist gets caught up in something much larger than him and in an attempt to escape this bureaucratic nightmare, the player must escape the city. The game is largely story-driven and will reportedly give players a fluid experience with no loading time. The implants play an incredible role in the game’s combat system. The main character Evan Kapnos has experimental firmware in his implant that allows him to utilize telekinesis, allowing him to lift enemies and objects with his mind. He also has access to a special weapon known as a Symbiotic Gun, that connects with his implant. However, players will have to be wary of using their implant too much, as overuse will cause the implant to overheat.

Several other games were also revealed such as the tactical fantasy role-playing game The Iron Oath. In the game the player experiences the life of a mercenary company, owning and managing a mercenary guild. The game uses turn-based tactics on a hexagonal base. Players can choose from a number of different classes, but what sets this game apart from others is the unique and powerful characters who go beyond the scope of stereotypical RPG class behaviors. The Expo also gave interviews with the creator of Samurai Jack Gunndy Tarakovsky for his new game being developed by Soleil Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time as well as the CEO of Proletariat INC for the upcoming spellcasting action fantasy RPG Spellbreak.
