Hollow Knight’s Final Chapter Drops This August

With the critical acclaim and fan hype surrounding the indie Metroidvania platformer since its launch, it’s hardly a surprise that Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight was among the most highly anticipated indie games requested to be on the Nintendo Switch. After much delay, wild speculations, and collective praying, fans were finally rewarded this past E3 when Nintendo revealed a surprise shadow release for the game. Not satisfied with simply releasing a port, the developers went above and beyond by announcing that its third free content expansion will arrive soon.

Hollow Knight: Gods & Glory is a celebratory last act for the eponymous hero. After three free expansions, it’s safe to say gamers have gotten way more value from this game than anyone expected considering the level of polish given to the core game.

The trailer attached to the announcement does seem as if the little knight is going out with a bang. With a slew of new bosses, NPCs, music, and quests, this meaty expansion gives fans a variety of reasons to dive back into the hellish fray of the Hallownest.

Given the explosion in popularity (especially with the Switch introducing a new wave of players) of the title, Team Cherry has also announced a series of goodies outside of the game. Christopher Larkin, the composer of Hollow Knight’s soundtrack, has released a new album packaging all the new music from the game’s expansions. Not only that, the album will also be available as a limited edition vinyl. Gods & Nightmares will be released alongside Pale Court, a compilation of live recording arrangements for some of the game’s classic tracks. Partnering with Fangamer, the studio has also announced a talking plush version of a Grub.

Hollow Knight: Gods & Glory will release on PC and the Nintendo Switch on August 23 as a free download. The new soundtrack album, Gods & Nightmare, drops on Steam and other streaming platforms on August 9.
