Ghostwire: Tokyo Has Been Delayed Until Early 2022

For those looking forward to Ghostwire: Tokyo this year, we have some unfortunate news. Tango Gameworks has announced that the game will no longer be coming out this year, and will instead have a tentative time frame release of “early 2022.” The studio made the announcement in a message that was tweeted from their official account. The studio states that they are looking forward to getting the game in our hands as soon as possible while also mentioning that “At the same time, we’re also focused on protecting the health of everyone at Tango. Our new release window will give us time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we’ve always envisioned it.”

Tango Gameworks finishes the statement by saying that they will be showing more of the title “in the coming months.” While this is a bit upsetting, it’s still better than the studio releasing an unfinished project. Considering their previous work with The Evil Within and The Evil Within 2, the wait will be more than worth it. Ghostwire: Tokyo was initially revealed during the Bethesda E3 2019 press conference, unveiled by then Director Ikumi Nakamura who became an overnight celebrity in the gaming community. However, Nakamura would leave the company altogether just few months later, which she later attributed to having serious impact on her health.

Ghostwire: Tokyo would be revealed as a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 5, which would eventually become hot topic when Bethesda, the studio’s parent company, was purchased by Microsoft just a few months later. Regardless, it was made clear that any titles being developed for Sony’s console before the purchase took place would be honored and carried out without any interference from Microsoft. This includes both Ghostwire: Tokyo and another Bethesda title being developed by Arkane Studios, Deathloopwhich is slated to launch later this year on September 14.
