Fortnite Season 7: What to Expect

Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 6 will make way for Season 7 on June 8, 2020. The highly successful shooter is best known for its popular battle royale mode, which is free to play. Each season has an overarching theme, which affects some gameplay, and rotates through new and returning cosmetic collaborations and collections. Season 6: Primal focused on a wilderness theme, with wildlife scattered throughout the map to be hunted and items that can be crafted and upgraded. It also boasted collaborations with big names like the NBA, Tomb Raider, and Batman Comics. Expectations are therefore high for Season 7, which will also drop with updated graphics.

Teasers and trailers for Fortnite‘s Season 7 are suspected to be alluding to an alien or extra-terrestrial theme, with the tagline “They’re Coming.” This is further evidenced by the arrival of UFO’s, alien abductions, and space-themed challenges in the map. It is unknown how this will affect gameplay upon the removal of Season 6’s mechanics, but alien cosmetics, themes, and marketing can be almost certainly expected.

There are also teasers of a collaboration that will excite many fans. A tweet released on the official Fortnite Twitter on June 7th contained a video displaying the Butter Robot from popular Adult Swim TV show Rick and Morty. Several other crossovers have been teased, such as Superman and the Marvel show Loki, but none quite so obvious as the Butter Robot. Each season lasts approximately three months, so there will be plenty of opportunities for these and other collaborations.

Since its release in 2017, Fortnite has been trail-blazingly popular, and its collaborations and constant updates keep it relevant. It continues to have effects on pop culture, in similar circles as Rick and Morty, so this crossover makes plenty of sense. The main question being asked by fans right now, that will likely be answered upon the release of Season 7, is whether fan favorite Pickle Rick will be making a celebrity appearance.
