Fallout 76 Nuka Cola Helmet Sold by GameStop Recalled

In yet another strike against the poor reputation Fallout 76, Nuka Cola-themed power armor helmet collectible, sold exclusively by GameStop‘s online store, has been recalled as of September 19, 2019. According to the recall information released by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the helmet is being recalled due to the possibility of mold inside the helmet. “Mold can be present on the fabric insert inside the helmet, posing a risk of respiratory or other infections in individuals with compromised immune systems, damaged lungs or an allergy to mold,” reads the recall site. As of now, there are no reported injuries or incidents associated with the now-recalled helmets, so the recall is preventative rather than reactionary.

The power armor helmet that has been recalled is specifically the Nuka Cola version, which is red and white, and not the grey version sold with the Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition. Bethesda has made statement to DualShockers regarding the recall. “The helmets that are being recalled are not from our Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition, but are instead a different line of helmets sold exclusively by GameStop. The Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition helmets are unaffected. Consumers should visit the product recall page for instructions if they have purchased the GameStop helmet.”

The Nuka Cola power armor helmet, which was made by Texas-based Chronicle LLC and manufactured in China, was originally sold online at GameStop.com for around $150 USD around June of this year. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, about 20,000 units were made, and GameStop will be attempting to contact each person that purchased one to inform them about the recall. However, if you or someone you know owns one of the affected helmets, please contact GameStop for information on how to return the helmet. The company is offering a full refund on the recalled helmets.
