EVO Will Return in 2024, Set for July 26-28

The Evolution Championship Series (EVO) for 2023 has just concluded. The event was once again filled to the brim with exciting finishes, tournament winners, and of course, new reveals and updated to existing fighting games. While the 2023 event has come and went, it looks like the organizers are already gearing up for next year’s festivities. At the closing ceremony, it was announced that EVO will return in 2024, and with already set dates, July 26-28. Not only is arguably the earliest we’ve ever been told that EVO is coming back with set dates, but it’s also surprising to see that it will take lace in July and not in August, which it has been predominantly for several years.

In addition to this surprise announcement, the Governor of the State of Nevada, Joe Lombardo, came out and proclaimed that dat, August 6, officially EVO Day. This proclamation is due in large part to the fact that EVO has made Las Vegas its home for the past 17 years, with the recent six events taking place at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. EVO more than likely brings in a plethora of revenue not just for the event, but for the city of Las Vegas and in turn, the state of Nevada as a whole. This is also made evident by the fact that the event had “record numbers”  and might have possibly set set another record for most participants in a single fighting game competition.

As we mentioned earlier, we saw new reveals and updates to some of fighting game franchises, which usually took place at the end of the title’s respective tournament. Two of the most notable was the official reveal for Fatal Fury: City of Wolves after it was teased the year prior, and the other being the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration with Street Fighter 6Lastly, the organizers teased another EVO event, one that will be separate from the main Las Vegas one. No further information was given in regards to this extra event, but we’ll more than likely find out in the foreseeable future
