EA Play Live Returns July 22, Well After E3 2021

After missing the previous year due to the worldwide effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic, EA has announced that their annual Summer gaming event is back. The aptly named EA Play Live will make its official return this year on July 22. If that date looks little off to some of you, that’s because it’s being placed well after E3 2021, more than a month in fact. The latter’s event takes place from June 12-15, and while EA might still have something planned for those days, this will be the first time that the event will not take place at the same time as E3.

EA Play Live is the company’s own take on showcasing their own IPs with reveals and updates, similarly to how most studios do during their conferences. Historically EA Play Live would occur the day before E3 commences, with a mix of live-streaming commentators, and in-person attendees playing some just-announced titles. EA has not confirmed whether this will be an in-person event or a digital-only one like E3 2021 due to the ongoing threat of the COVID-19 Pandemic. EA did not mention what we should expect at their event, but there are a couple of IPs we will more than likely see.

EA has already teased the next entry of Battlefield for the month of June, therefore it wouldn’t be such stretch to see some more gameplay or another trailer shown during EA Play Live. We also haven’t seen anything concrete on the next entries for Mass Effect and Dragon Ageboth of which were announced at The Game Awards last year. We’ll also probably get the newest reveals for their flagship titles such as Madden and FIFA.

As we already mentioned, it’s very noteworthy that EA has put the event near the end of July and far past E3 2021’s weekend. As we approach E3 2021, we’ll probably have a much better idea of what to expect when EA holds its event. EA Play Live will take place on July 22.
