Doom 4 Teaser Revealed

It’s been about a decade since we’ve last seen a Doom game, and after years of development hell, id Software and publisher Bethesda are ready to reveal the fourth Doom game, which is simply titled that, at E3 next month.

This was announced via the shortest teaser trailer ever made, presenting a mere three seconds of game footage that consists of a double barreled shotgun being loaded and a revenant, one of the series’ longtime enemies, going about his business like any demon from hell would.

This brief look at Doom at the very least serves as an assurance that the series will be sticking to its ultraviolent run-and-gun science fiction action roots.

This is good news considering that leaked images of Doom while it was early in development suggested that the series was going to make a major departure into Call of Duty/Resistance territory:

Thankfully, this version of Doom was canned by id and Bethesda in 2013 when they realized that it wouldn’t live up to expectations of the hallowed franchise, and work on the game started anew.

Little else is known about Doom, but an eyewitness account by PC gamer at a closed-door presentation and QuakeCon last year suggests that in addition to the series’ signature fast-paced shooting and gore, there will also be melee executions.

Having graduated to the upper echelons of PC gaming, he now boasts a number of major gaming accomplishments. These include getting through all three Deus Ex games without killing anyone, clocking in over 700 hours of gameplay time in Skyrim without ever finishing the main story, and nearly shattering every bone in his hand from punching the wall when his soldiers in XCOM missed a shot with 95% chance to hit.
