Developers Of Transistor and Bastion Announce Pyre For PS4 in 2017

It’s official!

If you are a big fan of previous mystical, role playing fantasy games, Transistor and Bastion (both developed by up-and-coming, superstar developers, Supergiant Games) then you are in luck!

Having seen nothing other than critical acclaim from critics and fans alike, devs at ) are often highly praised for their gorgeous, colorful artwork and unique stories–as well as retaining a powerful reputation for good gameplay and overall being a champion of the independent gaming movement. Venturing into their third, big name title, Supergiant Games announced via their website that we can expect their newest game to launch in 2017.

Called Pyre, the game was officially announced for Playstation 4, and exclusively that console so far. A party based RPG heavy in developer’s signature fantasy elements in a strange and vivid world, the game is already receiving positive hype for the developer’s rich nature of atmosphere and storytelling. Pyre, like its predecessors, is meant to encourage decision making in action-packed combat.

While the game is receiving a lot of buzz, and Supergiant seems more than happy to hear fans initial impressions, they are playing it pretty close to the vest. When asked for a synopsis, the most we could squeeze out was:

Pyre is a party-based RPG in which you lead a band of exiles to freedom through an ancient competition spread across a vast, mystical purgatory…
At the beginning of the game, your luck has almost run out when several masked wanderers find you and revive you from the brink. With your help, they seek to learn the truth about the Rites, a secretive competition through which the worthiest exiles can return home, absolved of their transgressions.

Supergiant Games are so excited to display their third game to the world, they are showcasing it at this year’s PAX East, in just a few short days! If you are in the Boston area, this alone is definitely worth checking out. They can be booth #8212.

As you journey across the Downside in the wanderers’ custom blackwagon, you’ll meet a variety of characters of all shapes and sizes, and learn what’s at stake for each of them should they prevail in the Rites. Your actions will determine who returns to glory, and who remains in exile to the end of their days.

We will have more updates soon as PAX East slowly dawns on the horizon. Meanwhile, mark your calendars for roughly 2017.

Hopefully more very, very soon!
