Destiny 2: Season of Worthy Brings More Than Just New Trials

Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy will introduce several major changes, including a higher Power cap, dramatic Exotic armor changes and overhauls, and more sources of rewards. It will also change the way some Eververse items are sold, and add more gear to the world drop pool.

Bungie just released the first official gameplay trailer for Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy, and it’s full of story details, activity teasers, and plenty of new Exotics. The roadmap also reveals a new event called the “Guardian Games “coming in April, which is described as a “class competition” which awards new armor.

Season of the Worthy will feature Warmind heroine Ana Bray and Titan Vanguard Zavala, who have teamed up to handle the new Cabal threat. After their defeat in the Season of Dawn, the Cabal have sent the Almighty in a future collision towards the Tower and the Last City around it. To defend against this unexpected attack, Ana and Zavala need to reactivate Rasputin, which Osiris confronted in the pre-season trailer. Rasputin ties directly into the new gameplay by helping to add the element of Seraph Towers and Rasputin Bunkers. Seraph Towers are Public events which seem to re-add the old Rift Crucible mode in the aspect that you grab some energy and dunk it. The seasonal page says these are necessary to “prepare Rasputin’s defenses.”

Rasputin’s Bunkers, according to Bungie’s description, say: “Rise to Rasputin’s challenge and clear bunkers throughout the system to reestablish communication with the Warmind.” According to the Season of the Worthy roadmap (as seen below), these bunkers are actually Legendary Lost Sectors, which will be released throughout the season. As for exotics, Destiny 2 now adds 3 new rifles; the auto rifle Tommy’s Matchbook, the shotgun Fourth Horseman, and an unnamed machine gun is shown in the trailer. Tommy’s Matchbook is included with the season pass and will be unlocked automatically. Fourth Horseman is a returning Exotic from the original Destiny. The machine gun, so far, is just going to have to have players wait and see. Bungie also showed some new Legendary weapons and armor coming next season, not to mention the new season pass rewards.

The Season of the Worthy will start on Tuesday, March 10 and run through June 9. You can find more details on its newly minted homepage.  Bungie also recently announced some major class changes coming next Season. Amidst Coronavirus concerns, Bungie has also implemented new system that allows developers t0 to work remotely.
