Deathloop was originally slated to come out in 2020, but it was delayed to 2021. Today, developer Arkane Lyon released a message from the team announcing yet another delay for the game. A video message with Game Director Dinga Bakaba and Art Director Sebastien Mitton was released with the news. Deathloop will now launch on September 14, 2021, for PC and PlayStation 5.
The message from Bakaba, Mitton, and the Arkane Lyon team said “we’re committed to quality and preserving our team’s ambitions for Deathloop while ensuring the health and safety of everyone at Arkane. We’ll be using this extra time to accomplish our goal: create a fun, stylish, and mind-bending player experience.”
Deathloop transports you to the mysterious island of Blackreef, where an eternal struggle between two extraordinary assassins will determine the island’s future. Taking on the role of Cole, you must find a way to put an end to the time loop trapping the island in an endless cycle, all while being hunted by the island’s inhabitants. The goal is to take out 8 key targets across Blackreef before the day ends. To help, you’ll have access to powerful weapons and abilities. However, rival assassin Julianna is on the hunt for Cole to keep the loop going. You can take things up a notch and have other players take control of Julianna, sneaking into your or another player’s game. The multiplayer experience is optional.
Deathloop is the latest in a long list of games that have been delayed this year.
