Dead Island 2 Release Date Announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live

It has been a long wait since Dead Island 2 was originally announced in 2014, but the game now has an official release date. The game is going to be released on February 3, 2023, on the Epic Games store for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, PlayStation®5 and PlayStation®4, Google Stadia, and PC.

This announcement was officially made at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live and confirmed a leak that arose last week on Amazon when they released listings for the Playstation 4 and Playstation 5.

The game will include a single-player mode, in addition to a new co-op mode. The new co-op mode will be able to support up to three players within one game at a time. The game will also feature six playable characters. Each of the characters will have different abilities and dialog that will allow players to perform different tasks and fight zombies in various ways.

The game is going to be based in Los Angeles and will try to pay homage to “classic cult Hollywood horror B-movies.” Director of Alexa games Steve Bernstein said “We are excited to debut Alexa Game Control in Dead Island 2,” He then proceeded to say “Gamers will enjoy a more immersive gaming experience by using their voice to goad zombies, ask for help, activate special abilities during combat, and more, without having to say “Alexa,” use an Echo device, or purchase any special hardware.”

Dead Island 2 also released a gameplay trailer to get fans excited. The trailer features Jacob, who is one of the six playable characters, as he wanders around his daily life throughout the game.

While fans have had to wait a long time for the release of this game, the trailer looks incredible and should get fans excited for the release on February 3, 2023.
