DC: Dark Legion Launches Today as DC’s Latest Mobile Strategy Game

DC Comics began in 1934 as one of the world’s most influential comic book publishers, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson. In 1938 the company introduced Superman, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, when they released Action Comics #1. This marked the start of the superhero genre. From there Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27 (1939), created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, and Wonder Woman was introduced in All-Star Comics #8 (1941), created by William Moulton Marston. The Justice Society of America appeared in All-Star Comics #3 (1940) making it the first ever superhero team in comics.

From there DC took to the screen, producing shows like the 1960s Batman TV series, starring Adam West. The company has built a long and storied legacy since then, boasting impactful titles like the Christopher Reeve Superman films (1978–1987), the Tim Burton Batman films (1989–1992), and many more. DC has also expanded its universe into the realm of video games of the past few decades, from Superman on Atari 2600 in 1978 to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC in 2024.

DC’s latest mobile strategy game launched globally today on iOS and Android devices, as well as on PC. DC: Dark Legion allows players to help defend Earth Prime from The Batman Who Laughs and his army of Dark Knights after being recruited by the universe’s last Monitor. The game is inspired by Dark Nights: Metal comic series and licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of DC. DC: Dark Legion is developed by FunPlus, one of the globe’s largest privately held gaming companies with nearly 2,000 team members in studios held across three continents.

Players are tasked with competing in strategic PvE and PvP matches with customizable parties and can recruit from a collection of more than 50 DC Superheroes and Super-Villains at the game’s release. The number of characters is supposed to reach more than 200 through future game updates. In addition, players are also encouraged to explore Earth Prime as the narrative progresses and convert a backup Batcave into a new base in the name of the resistance.

DC: Dark Legion currently available for download as a free-to-play game via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Anyone who downloads the game within its first few days will receive various celebratory launch rewards as they level up. Players can sync their progress across platforms by logging in and syncing their accounts under Settings.

Margo Keller: My name is Margo Keller, and I love video games! I am a student at the University of Iowa, double majoring in Creative Writing and Screenwriting, with a minor in Communications. I am captivated by video games and how they function as a story telling medium. Mobile games, specifically, are increasingly complex forms of entertainment that can be played on the go. While many video games are available only to those who can afford expensive consoles and computers, mobile games are designed for the average person.
