Dave the Diver Reaches 1 Million Milestone 10 Days After Launch

Dave the Diver has reached a milestone of 1 million copies sold in a mere 10 days after launching on Steam. Mintrocket’s debut title released on June 28th on Steam. The indie title swiftly reached the top-seller chart, with overwhelmingly positive reviews to date. Other milestones attributed to Dave the Diver also include a peak concurrent player count beyond 98,000, with 66,000 concurrent Twitch viewers. It also helps that the Steam Summer Sale is currently ongoing, giving a 10% discount to the new title. Dave the Diver first went into early access in October 2022.

In response to the milestone today, Game Director Jaeho Hwang stated, “I appreciate the community so much for being active and providing crucial feedback. We improved a lot of systems and found bugs thanks to them. Thanks everyone for being there with us on this journey!”

The 2D pixel-art adventure game finds players in the role of Dave, a marine diver who swims into a deep Blue Hole exploring what mysteries lie beneath. Players are tasked with collecting resources, upgrading gear, crafting items and fighting marine monsters. Daytime is spent exploring the ocean depths, whereas come night, players are tasked with managing a sushi restaurant.

Reception to the game has been resoundingly positive, with IGN giving it a solid 9/10 in their review, “Dave The Diver is a tremendous and unforgettable RPG adventure,” they write in their verdict. Over on Metacritic, it has a score of 89 from 16 critic reviews so far.

Dave the Diver is currently available on Steam and is set to launch on Switch sometime later this year. It’s unclear yet if and when it’ll come to other platforms such as Xbox and PlayStation.
