ID@Xbox Digital Showcase: Karateka, Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients, & More

The IGN x ID@Xbox digital showcase just finished revealing whopping 20 new indie games! Among the host of new announcements is Digital Eclipse’s new journey, the Gold Master Series. The new games that will stem from the series are self-published and have the quality of “interactive documentaries.” This new line of games will start with The Making of Karateka.

Essentially, the game is a self-reflexive journey that explores the making of the original video game. It is a deep and thorough exploration into what makes Karateka so unique and how it single-handedly changed the industry. Continually, The Making of Karateka will contain multiple versions of the original game, video interviews, design documents, and unreleased prototypes from the game’s creator, Jordan Mechnor.

Another exciting release is entitled, Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients.

The story is set in the fictional world known as Gliese. Dark forces have spread across the world threatening its very existence. The hero, known as Astor, must embark upon a journey to discover remnants of his past by unlocking legendary weapons that allow him to combat the dark forces at hand. The combat system is combo oriented and reminiscent to that of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The combat system shifts between light, heavy and ranged attacks which vary from summoning abilities and ranged projectiles. By successfully completing combos, you build up a meter that unleashes a devastating blow to enemies when it reaches maximum capacity. The game itself is beautifully colored and vibrance radiates from the landscapes. The game itself feels as though you are enmeshed in a sparkling and animated painting.

Another interesting and exciting release is Scarlet Deer Inn.

This game’s identity is an embroidered adventure platform from developer Attu Games. What’s special about this game is its usage of Slavic folklore and medieval Europe thematics in its narrative. Each character frame is physically embroidered and the backgrounds are hand-painted and inspired by Studio Ghibli movies. In its rich and emotional story, players will encounter many well developed characters, dark dungeons to traverse and access to dialogue that further the storyline and unlock optional backstories.

Other titles include: Axiom Verge 2, Birth, Dreamers, Everspace 2, Hellboy Web of Word, Jackbox Party Pack 10, Hypnotorious, MythForce, Rain world: Downpour, Roman Sands, Sea of Stars, Second Wave, Solace State, Stray Souls, Stumble Guys, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Vampire Survivors, and Worldless.

To recap, the IGN x ID@Xbox digital showcase provides all gamers alike with access to many new and exciting indie releases. Surely any gamer can find one title in this showcase they want to play.
