Costume Quest 2 Announced for Halloween Release

The original Costume Quest took you into the minds of children and into their vivid imaginations as you see the places their ideas and dreams can take them in this Halloween themed RPG. The game was later succeeded by its Christmas-themed DLC expansion Grubbins on Ice.

Publisher Majesco has an indie label called Midnight City, who is helping the Fullbright Company bring Gone Home to console, and is helping Double Fine to publish Costume Quest 2. Twins Reynold and Wren will also star in its sequel, which is coming to both consoles and PC.

In Costume Quest, players will go around from their suburban neighborhood to their local mall and festivals. You get awarded candy and power-ups by going door to door. You will receive quest assignments to be able to get rid of the monsters in the neighborhood and also find the players siblings. The characters will turn into the actual large version of their current costumes in the turn-based RPG combat with a Mario RPG reaction system.

The game was originally created by Double Fine’s Tasha Harris during the company’s Amnesia Fortnight game development event, a two-week period each year, which employees drop ideas for the next new game. Tasha left Double Fine in 2011 to work for Pixar as the lead franchise artist.

Double Fine rarely revisits a series, but fans have been wanting a Costume Quest sequel.
