Boosteroid has become the latest gaming platform to sign onto Microsoft’s 10-year deal. The Ukraine-based cloud gaming platform has agreed to bring Xbox PC games to their service, including Activision Blizzard games like Call of Duty following the Activision Blizzard acquisition’s completion.
The agreement is similar to Microsoft’s other partnerships with Nintendo and NVIDIA, showcasing its commitment to keep its game releases multi-platform. This deal will likely increase Boosteroid’s already massive four million global user base, which is currently considered to be one of the largest cloud-gaming platforms in the world.
Currently, Boosteroid operates through browsers and dedicated apps on Windows, Linux, Android, Android TV and MacOS. Microsoft, in making these deals, hopes to alleviate the concerns of Sony, UK and US regulators towards the massive 68.7 billion deal.
Boosteroid has had two of its research and development offices damaged by missile attacks due to the war in Ukraine. Brad Smith, Microsoft’s Vice Chair and President, stated that this partnership “exemplifies” their continued support of “Ukraine’s 160,000 software developers.”
“This partnership builds on the $430 million in technology and financial assistance we have provided Ukraine since Russia’s unlawful invasion, and it exemplifies the steps we will continue to take to support Ukraine’s 160,000 software developers,” said Smith. “It also adds to our recent agreements with Nintendo and NVIDIA, making even more clear to regulators that our acquisition of Activision Blizzard will make Call of Duty available on far more devices than before.”
