Check Out Lego Worlds Early Access

Lego Worlds is an early access game that hopes to finally give you the infinite creativity of the Lego brand on the PC. Even as an early access title this game has quite the feature set, graphics, and game play you’ve grown to love from Lego games, movies, and play sets.

It should be noted this game is not Lego’s first attempt at an online interactive building sandbox game. Lets talk about the elephant in the room, which is the comparison of Lego Worlds to Minecraft. Lego worlds definitely has a plethora of randomly generated content, skeletons, zombies, friendly npc, tons of amazing creatures to ride. It also has randomly generated worlds lava, snow, grass, beach, colored rock, and more. But Lego Worlds has fun features you won’t find anywhere else for fans of the sandbox genre.

The sandbox game is produced by Travelers Tales Games and Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment and has a unique but complex building system. It looks something similar to what you might find in a 3D modeling program. This is a good and bad thing as you can make creative unique builds fairly quickly. However it can become frustratingly complex fairly quickly, if you don’t want to spend the time to learn how to use it. Many pre-made sets also exist and can be instantly rezzed from your build-a-gun anywhere on the map, including a suburban home, ginger bread house, and more.

The game also relies heavily on exploration and very little on crafting with the current build. You will want to explore all kinds of different areas as you meat npcs, creatures, and walk by items. You will get a notification that they have been added for the option to purchase in your inventory once spotted. With the newest update to ride mounts you must find the right food to feed your dragon, horse, wolf, camel,  and many more fun creatures to tame.

Exploration is what I found to be the most entertaining aspect of the game aside from building. You can walk or grab all kinds of trucks, cars, helicopters, planes, motorcycles, skateboards or animals and check out the beautifully detailed elemental heavy lands. Settle down by a volcano, or build a a Christmas themed house in the arctic. Take a boat or submarine out and explore sunken treasure chests.  There will be not so challenging enemies and for some odd reason you can kill all kinds of friendly animals and npcs as well. You also may end up seeing the circle of life as mountable polar bear kills a mountable arctic wolf, or a skeleton may randomly attack a camel you wanted to ride.

You can gain coins to buy items by exploration, opening chests,  destroying landscapes, killing enemies and more.  To buy sets, characters, vehicles, and tons more. You can buy avatars of all different kinds and cool addons such as scuba diving gear. You have four hearts to your health system and can gain weapons like swords, guns, bazookas, and more. You can infiltrate enemy territory and take on ten skeletons. There is no need to eat system or death from above. Because if you get stuck you can parachute in. If you do die you simply re-spawn.

Overall for someone looking for an exploration adventure that is not yet mac or console compatible and not yet a multiplayer Lego experience Lego Worlds offers a good time. It just recently updated to have underwater exploration available. Look forward to more to come and Early Access is available now for purchase on Steam. Also check out the GameSpot trailer below.
