New Release Date For Mighty No. 9

After a successful kickstarter, developer Comcept and publisher Deep Silver began work on a spiritual successor to Megaman with a development team joined by the creative designer of the original Megaman games, Keiji Inafune. The result, Mighty No. 9, was originally set for launch in September, 2015, but was delayed indefinitely until 2016.

While delays happen, and pushbacks for release dates are inevitable in certain circumstances, it’s never reassuring when the new date is as vague and imprecise as an entire year. Luckily Deep Silver seems to empathize because there was a post on the official Mighty No. 9 web page that lists February 9th and 12th in NA and the rest of the world, respectively. This news comes with an update for the demo, as well.

Part of the reason the delayed release hurt so much has to do with the compensation Deep Silver attempted to provide. When the Sept. 11th release was delayed, kickstarter backers were promised an exclusive three stage demo by the 15th. This was also delayed at the very last minute, both releases receiving a public announcement of a delay just hours before the intended launch.

Deep Silver apparently learns from past mistakes, however, and alongside the new release date for the full game, they announced the demo would be made available immediately for those originally promised one. It’s out now and people are already all over it.

Distribution of the demo is being done with the help of Humble Bundle, website and group that you should definitely be familiar with. The people over there do amazing things. That’s besides the point, though. If you backed the kickstarter and are looking for your copy of the demo, head on over to Humble Bundle’s website and login with the email address used when you donated to the kickstarter, or the email associated with the relevant Paypal account. From there you can navigate the site to your PC download of the demo. For more information on this process, please refer to the official page linked above, or right here.

Those that did not back the kickstarter will be stuck waiting, but at least they know exactly how long it’ll be. Once more, we can all get our hands on the game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC starting February 9th in NA and the 12th everywhere else.
