Call of Duty: Mobile is Having an Esports Tournament worth $1 Million in Prizes

For the past few years, Call of Duty: Mobile has grown into one of the biggest games of our generation and now Activision announces that they are having esports tournament amongst their fans that get the opportunity to win up to $1 million dollars in cash prizes and in-game cosmetics. This is their annual Call of Duty: Mobile World Champion 2020 Tournament that in collaboration with Sony Mobile.

The Call of Duty website goes into detail on how qualifiers can participate in this limited-time event. They stated that “The path to the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship global finals begins with four open online qualifiers. Each weekend from April 30th – May 24th UTC, eligible* players ranked veteran or higher will have the chance to play to win Call of Duty: Mobile in-game rewards, and (for the best of the best) individually qualify for Stage 2.”  They say that the tournament will go live and that the first ten ranked matches players that play will earn themselves tournament points. “Tournament points are based on individual wins and your current rank; the higher your rank the more points you receive for a win. If you reach 80 points within the first ten ranked matches in any weekend you qualify on to Stage 2,” the developers said. Players that participate in the tournament must compete in an eligible handset and also cannot use any external devices that can modify the game controls without the Administration’s consent.

Within the Call of Duty: Mobile competition can receive some rewards once defeating the first stage. When beating Stage 1 players will get registration reward, progression reward, and being qualified for Stage 2. In Stage 2 players will have to form a team of players that qualify and will continue on playing the online matches. The tournament starts on April 30th to May 24th.
