Bungie & Activision Makes Destiny 2 Free On PC This Month

During Blizzcon, game director Steve Cotton announced that Destiny 2 will be free for a limited time. To celebrate its first year on PC, Blizzard has made Destiny 2 a redeemable gift through November 18. Anyone who downloads the game during this time period will own the game after the deadline. Though Destiny 2 is available on consoles, anyone who wishes to play on PC has to do so going through Blizzard’s Battle.net service; this is similar to Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 which is also only available on PC through Blizzard’s service.

Those who already own the game will get an exclusive emblem that will be available in December, and a Gambit Free Weekend was also announced. All Destiny 2 players will get access to the new PVP/PVE mode Gambit that came with Destiny 2: Forsaken, and it will run from November 9 through 11. This wasn’t the only time that the base Destiny 2 game went free, as it was part of PlayStation’s PS Plus games in September. In other Destiny 2 related news, just last month, Bungie announced that Destiny 2‘s year one DLC, Curse Of Osiris and Warmind, will be included with the Forsaken expansion. The Forsaken expansion costs $40.

Anyone who wishes to get more Destiny 2 content can purchase the Annual Pass. The Annual Pass is a little different from the free seasonal updates of the game. The Pass offers a range of different experiences that consist of new endgame activities, modes, discovery, and challenges. The Annual Pass content will release in concert with the free seasonal updates to keep the world of Destiny alive and fresh. The Annual Pass consists of three updates: Black Armory will release in December, Joker’s Wild releases in Spring 2019, and the last of the Annual Pass content, Penumbra, will release Summer 2019. More information on the content roadmap for Destiny 2 going forward can be found here. The Annual Pass costs $34.99, or players can opt for a $69.99 bundle that will have the pass included.

Also announced during this year’s Blizzcon are a new original character joining Heroes Of The Storm, WarCraft III: Reforged, the release date for World Of Warcraft: Classic, new content for World Of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth, a brand new Diablo experience, and a new Overwatch hero, among other announcements.
