BlizzCon 2019: World of Warcraft Shadowlands Expansion Officially Announced, Launches 2020

It looks like the leaks from earlier this week have been validated, as Blizzard officially announced the next Expansion for World of Warcraft; Shadowlands. Accompanied by what was one of the most jaw dropping cinematic’s ever, Shadowlands looks like it’s going become another world changing event, similar to Cataclysm. On top of that, we’re getting multiple new areas to explore.

Sylvanas is once again at the center of this conflict. In the trailer, see her approach the Frozen Throne, where the current Lich King Bolvar Resides. After a heated exchange, Sylvanas emerges victorious by forcibly removing the Helm of Dominaton from his head. She then proceeds to do something that defies all logic; ripping the Helm apart, and therefore killing the Lich King.

Bastion is one of the new areas that players will be able to traverse through in Shadowlands

This sends a humongous ripple effect through the land, and literally shatters the sky, showing a mirror-like dimension above it. Clearly, the series is going into some dark territory here, and quite frankly we’re all for it. Those areas we mentioned were also shown with some gameplay, and despite the early look, we’re very excited to play it.

World of Warcraft Shadowlands launches sometime in 2020 for PC through the Battle.net.
