Activision to Produce Three More COD Games on Playstation

According to IGN, Microsoft has announced the decision to keep the upcoming Call of Duty games in development for both Playstation and Xbox. This announcement is going to come as sigh of relief for many fans of the franchise who were concerned that the games would become Xbox exclusive. This concern arose after the announcement that Microsoft would be purchasing Activision for over 65 billion dollars at the end of 2023. Despite all of the concerns, Microsoft is planning to honor the agreement that Activision and Sony established prior to the purchase. This agreement included three more COD games that will be released on the current platforms.

The first game that is expected to be released is a new Modern Warfare game. This game should be released sometime in 2022 by developer Infinity Ward. Treyarch, the developer of the COD: Black Ops titles, will likely be the development team for the next game. In addition to both of these, Warzone 2 is expected to be released on the Playstation as well. The new Warzone game is likely to be released sometime between the two other titles. The addition of two more main titles and three games overall is incredible news for all players that are currently on any Sony platform.

Although the future of COD is unknown after these three games, there is both potential and hope for the franchise to remain on the current platforms. Sony will have to sign a deal with Microsoft that provides access to the franchise in the future. The potential decision about an Xbox exclusive COD game could be major for Microsoft as they look to bring more players onto Xbox consoles. Regardless of the decision, it will be an incredibly eventful next few years for both companies in the gaming world!
