PAX West 2018 has been an incredibly busy time for Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture. They not only showed off a new and improved demo, but have also announced a large amount of new information in regards to the newest installment in the No More Heroes franchise.
For the uninitiated, the No More Heroes franchise is made up of two hack and slash action games originally for the Nintendo Wii (the first game however, is also available on the PlayStation 3). The games received critical acclaim for their unique and over the top styles, and so there has been a significant amount of anticipation for the continuation of the story of Travis Touchdown. This is magnified when you consider that it has been nearly 9 years since the last release in the series.

It seems that the wait for many fans anticipating a new installation in the series will be coming to an end very soon, with Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes releasing exclusively on the Nintendo Switch this January. Considering the game was originally meant to come out in 2018, this delay was comically explained by Suda51 as to “not have a bad affect on Smash Brothers“. This wasn’t all that was announced at PAX West by Suda51 however, as he also revealed plans for post-launch content, specifically “two different sets of DLC”. You can view the GameXplain interview where he announces that information here.
Grasshopper Manufacture has been collaborating with developers of Shovel Knight, Yacht Club and the developers of Hotline Miami, Devolver Digital, throughout the development of Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. Alongside a new story, this game will also be introducing co-op multiplayer, a first for the series. With gameplay unique to the series and Nintendo advertising this game alongside other Nindies, this game certainly seems distinctive in how different it will be from the other entries.
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes will release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on January 18, 2019.
