YIIK: A Postmodern RPG Receives An Update Dec 2 ‘YIIK I.V’

Publisher Ysbryd Games and developer Ackk Studios announced that a free update to YIIK: A Postmodern RPG will be receiving a free update on Dec 2 2024 by the title of YIIK I.V; A New trailer was put out for this announcement and the game is headed for all versions of the game. RPGGamer reports that the new content provides new characters and a brand new battle system.

We can expect to see a big overhaul to YIIK: A Postmodern RPG and its systems. Including the new cutscenes, new areas and the ‘Monster’s Den’, and 150 brand new tracks. 

Noisy Pixel shares that Co-founder and co-director of Ackk Studios Andrew Allanson spoke about the update: “We want to thank our supportive community for their patience as my brother Brian and I put our hearts and souls into the development of I.V. We hope they find everything they’re looking for in the ultimate YIIK experience!”

YIIK takes place in Frankton, New Jersey,  you play as Alex, a college graduate in search of a woman who seemingly dissapears. While in YIIK I.V you’ll play as a character named the Nameless Child in search of her long lost brother. RPGsite has indicated Story paths will converge between the old content and the new. Some other playable characters include Alex Eggleston, Michael K, Vella Wilde, Rory Mancer, Claudio Unkrich, Chondra Unkrich, and Essentia. 

New dance themed elements are being added to turn based battles known as ‘Karta’ which will serve as defensive equipment with passive and active abilities. A new battle system called ‘The Dark Game’ has been added where you’ll fight for survival and test whether you can outlast your enemies. 

YIIK and its developers aim to innovate with this late release and will be playable on several platforms in a couple short weeks.
