Year Long DLC Series Announced for Civilization 6: New Frontier Pass

Bimonthly new content is coming to Sid Meier’s Civilization VI beginning on May 21st until March 2021. The DLC series is being called the New Frontier Pass and will feature 6 premium add-on packs over the next year. The developers took to the Civilization YouTube channel to share the news and breakdown what players can expect.

The New Frontier Pass is available for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch for $39.99 USD. DLC #1, the Maya & Gran Colombia Pack, is coming this month and will introduce the Gran Columbia into the game for the very first time. Each pack will provide a new game mode, new civilizations, along with their leaders and more. Certain packs require previous expansions to play some of their new features, including this month’s installment. To view a structured list of which expansion packs are needed for each installment, visit the Civilization website.

Players who pre-order the New Frontier Pass will receive “Rough Rider Teddy” Teddy Roosevelt and “Magnificence Catherine” Catherine de Medici Persona Packs. These will become available in July with the second add-on pack. Free periodic game updates will also be deployed between DLC drops for all Civilization VI players. These include balance updates, free content, and what devs describe as “other surprises.” Anton Strenger, Lead Designer for Civilization VI, speaks to the inspiration behind the influx of updates saying “this gives us the chance to learn new ways to plan and build a game as exciting as Civilization VI.”
