Yakuza 6 Japanese Release Date Announced, Character Trailers, and More

Earlier this Summer, Sega announced that on July 26th they would be revealing the new Yakuza game, Yakuza 6’s official release date. That day has finally come and the official release date for Yakuza 6 in Japan has been announced. Yakuza 6 will be coming out for the PlayStation 4 in Japan on December 8th.  Yakuza 6 will retail at 8,190 Yen, roughly $78 USD. The full title for the game was also announced by Sega as well, Yakuza 6: Inochi no Uta aka Yakuza 6: The Poetry of Life. This is game is said to be “The final chapter of the legend of Kazuma Kiryu,” apparently finally providing an ending for the game’s main storyline.

A North American release is still to be announced but it known that the game will be released sometime in 2017. It was also revealed that in this latest installment, the player will be able to explore a new setting. This new location is Hiroshima, a change from the game’s usual location of Tokyo.

Various characters in Yakuza 6 and their voice actors were also announced. Yakuza 6 has a pretty star studded cast, all of which have lent their talents to both great live action and animated works. The confirmed cast and characters is as follows: Kazuma Kiryu is being voiced by Takaya Kuroda, reprising his role as the protagonist of the series. He is also known for his voice work on Super Sentai shows and various anime. Haruka Sawamura is being played by Rie Kugimiya, also reprising her role. She is known for her voice acting which includes such prominent roles as: Alphonse Elric in Full Metal Alchemist, Happy in Fairy Tale, and Kagura in Gintama.

Takumi Someya, is being voiced by Shun Oregi, is known for his voice on various anime, such as Great Teacher Onizuka and he played Lupin III in the live action Lupin the 3rd film.

Tsuyoshi Nagumo, is being played by Hiroyuki Miyasako, known as the funny man in Japanese comedy duo, Ameagari, as well for his work on various Japanese films.

Tsuneo Iwami is being voiced by Nao Omori, who is well known for his role as Ichi in the ultra-violent cult film, Ichi the Killer.

Kiyomi Kasahara, is being played by Yoko Maki, an actress known for her role in J-Horror film, Infection and a role in the American version of The Grudge.

Yuta Usami, is being played by Tatsuya Fujiwara. Fujiwara is known for his starring role as Nanahara in Battle Royale and as Light Yagami in the live action Death Note films.

Toru Hirose, is being portrayed by renaissance man, Takeshi Kitano aka Beat Takeshi. His work was discussed in our previous Yakuza 6 article which can be read here.
