To promote the premiere of Marvel Studios’ newest feature film, Microsoft has created a thunderous prize for one lucky winner: a custom-designed Xbox Series X console. Thor: Love and Thunder will debut on July 8th in the United States, so the newest console is modeled after the God of Thunder’s hammer. This limited edition Mjölnir-themed hardware comes complete with a metallic paint job, Asgardian markings, and a leather handle sticking out on one side. Unfortunately, this relic cannot be purchased online, but fans have a chance to obtain one through Microsoft’s latest sweepstakes.
The competition requires no purchase; participants must follow the official Xbox Twitter and retweet the competition post with the hashtag #ThorLoveandThunderXboxSweepstakes. Participants must be over the age of eighteen or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. The sweepstakes is currently running and will conclude on July 21st at 8:00 pm PT. When it comes to customized gaming consoles, Microsoft is no stranger to creativity. Recently, a similar contest was held for a chance to win a Ms. Marvel-themed Xbox Series S and wireless controller. Other imaginative models include the Halo Infinite Xbox Series X and the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl selection of Spongebob Squarepants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle designs. Some fans may think that the recently announced Thor: Love and Thunder model has a questionable design with the inclusion of the leather handle. Not as questionable as the furry controllers from the promotion of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, but the promotional post does not specify how sturdy the handle is. However, it is unlikely that one would be able to pick up the entire console using only the handle. Regardless, the console should not be used as a weapon like the hammer in the movies!
