Xbox One S Out In August, Will Cost $299

Microsoft opened their massive E3 conference with the unveiling of the Xbox One S, a newer, slimmer model of the original console.

Like most of the reveals of this E3, the announcement was leaked over the last few weeks. People even got look at the console when some promotional material leaked the day before the conference on NeoGAF.

Now that its officially out in the open, let’s take a look at it.

As you can see the console is considerably smaller (40 percent smaller to be exact) giving it the look of an all white PS2. From what the sizzle reel says, all that extra bulk was converted into a slightly more powerful console.

Whereas the current Xbox One models only go up to 1TB of hard drive space, and launch models having 500GB worth of space, the Xbox One S will have a 2TB HDD. The Xbox One S will also be taking one more step towards 4K gaming with the console supporting 4K Ultra HD Playback.

One of the most annoying things about the Xbox One was that you had to set it on it’s side, but now with the Xbox One S you will now have the choice of how you will display your device.

The new console will also have a new controller to go with it. The controller will come with a new textured grip, an increased wireless range, and a redesigned pad. Microsoft is also giving people the option to customize the controller. All you have to do is go to Xbox’s Design Lab and start creating. You can check out the trailer below.

According to the Verge, these controllers will cost a little more (around $80) with an extra $10 for adding text to the controller.

The Xbox One S will be out sometime in August for $299.

The Xbox is just part of what Microsoft is planning. Also announced was the rumored Xbox One upgrade called “Project Scorpio”.
