Quake Is Back With Quake Champions

After the success of the new Doom game that came out a few weeks ago, Bethesda must have thought it a good idea to bring back another uber popular FPS forerunner, Quake. The last time a new Quake game came out was almost nine years ago with Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, back in 2007.

Last night Bethesda opened up its BE3 conference with the next entry in the Quake series, Quake Champions. You can watch the announcement trailer below.

The trailer shows of the titular champions fighting in an appropriately over-the-top battle filled with all the sci-fi weapons, jump pads and massive arenas fans would expect from the series.

Since the series first debuted it has become a staple of the esports community with Bethesda itself holding tournaments at the similarly named Quakecon. Bethesda plans on continuing that tradition with Quake Champions.

Info on the game is slim but according to Game Informer, Quake Champions will be a PC exclusive game with a focus on multiplayer and “world class play”. No word on if this means that the game will have a single player mode. There was also no release date given for the game.

During ID Software’s Studio Director Tim Willits’ talk about the game he said that more would be revealed at this year’s Quakecon. The convention will run from August 4th to the 7th in Dallas, Texas.

Also announced at Bethesda’s E3 conference were Skyrim: Special Edition, new DLC for Fallout 4, the return of Prey, the addition of story mode for Elder Scrolls: Legends and Dishonored 2 gameplay.
