Xbox Games Showcase 2023: Like A Dragon 8 Now Titled Infinite Wealth

Yakuza/Like A Dragon fans have been looking forward to Like A Dragon 8 since its announcement during RGG Summit 2022. Today, series developer Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio has unveiled critical details about their upcoming release.

During today’s Xbox Games Showcase, RGG Studio presented a reveal trailer for Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the new title for Like A Dragon 8. The trailer shows Ichiban Kasuga, the current Like A Dragon series protagonist, waking up naked on a crowded and sunny beach. As he comes to, surrounding passerby notice his state of undress; some are shocked while others cheer him on. However, the strangest part of this scenario isn’t their reactions – it’s how they all speak perfect English. As the series has always been set in Japan, this is an unusual element in a Like a Dragon game. This means Infinite Wealth will take Kasuga’s story beyond Japan’s borders and introduce Like a Dragon fans to a brand-new setting.

RGG Studio also published an official site for Infinite Wealth, where they will disclose more details. The site also features a couple images of Kasuga with Like A Dragon fan-favorites; for example, Yu Nanba and Koichi Adachi, members of Kasuga’s party from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, are shown allying with Kasuga once more.

Another image displays Kasuga alongside former series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, who was confirmed to return in Like A Dragon 8‘s initial trailer. While Kiryu’s exact role in Infinite Wealth remains unknown, the circumstances surrounding his involvement will likely be explored in Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth will release in early 2024 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Windows, and PC via Steam. Additional details may be revealed during RGG Summit 2023 on June 16th.
