Xbox Design Lab Returns for Xbox Series X

Microsoft is bringing back the Xbox Design Lab for Xbox Series X controllers. The company announced on June 17 that the custom controllers will be available in the U.S., Canada, and most European countries. Priced at $69.99, customizations include millions of different variants with the ability to add personalized engraving. With this feature extended to the Xbox Series X model, consumers will now be able to change the color of every aspect of their Xbox controller. Color customizations include, but are not limited to, the controller’s bumpers, thumbsticks, D-pad, and option buttons.

Originally, the Xbox Design Lab was launched in 2016, but the feature took a while to be extended to Xbox Series X as Microsoft wanted to focus solely on the console launch itself. Now, Xbox Series X owners can customize their Xbox Wireless Controllers with new added benefits. According to Xbox’s blog, this latest update will include improved controllers that contain better cross-device connectivity, easier sharing, reduced latency, and a wider range of hand sizes.

Additionally, the update will also feature 18 different eco-friendly color variants for most controller parts, with new introductions to colors named Shock Blue, Pulse Red, and Electric Volt. The new color options, according to Xbox, will reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfills, so for our eco-conscious gamers, the news of the company utilizing post-consumer recycled materials is definitely one to celebrate.

With this, Xbox also pledged that this new update wouldn’t be the last for the Xbox Design Lab as the Microsoft team is “developing new processes, testing new materials, and innovating” in order to keep evolving the lab experience.

Players can order their controller today with a guaranteed delivery date of 14 business days. So whether you’re customizing your new controller for yourself, or for a loved one, the Xbox Design Lab will allow you to express your creativity.
