Wrath: Aeon of Ruin Release Delayed Until 2021

Similar to other games expected to release this year, Wrath: Aeon of Ruin has had its content update and full release date delayed until 2021. Developer KillPixel and 3D Realms were hoping to add new content and features to the early access of the game on December 22, however, in a recent statement, they clarified that it is now set to release in January of 2021 due to the fact that some team members, unfortunately, fell sick with COVID-19. They are taking the extra time in order “to make this new update extraordinary.” The full release of the game is also delayed.

The January update will be the third content update released. The last one was back on May 28 and that update introduced a new level, a new enemy, and a new weapon. This next one will be somewhat similar, introducing a new level, a new enemy, and a new artifact. In the aforementioned statement, KillPixel teased some images of the new map in order to appease their fans until they can download the third content update next year. The full release of the game has also been delayed from a spring release to a summer release in 2021, however, the final date will now be announced sometime in the spring. The full game is expected to have three hub worlds, fifteen levels, ten artifacts, nine weapons, fifteen enemies and bosses, as well as a multiplayer option.

Wrath: Aeon of Ruin is a retro first-person shooter created on a modified version of the Quake engine, the first to do so in almost twenty years, and is currently available for early access on PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 for $24.99.
