Warhammer 40K Strategy Game ‘Battlefleet Gothic: Armada’ Debuts Teaser Trailer

Games Workshop are certainly on the warpath, pushing out new IPs based on their famed Warhammer 40,000 universe, and the latest game to be introduced is the PC-exclusive Battlefleet Gothic: Armada.

Battlefleet is an adaptation of an actual tabletop strategy game of the same name designed and released by Games Workshop in 1999, and discontinued in 2013. Taking a spacefaring approach to the 40k gameplay, the game allowed players to choose from familiar factions like the Imperium, Orks, Eldars and Chaos, as they do battle with one another in ship-to-ship combat.

Battlefleet the videogame will focus on the Imperial Navy’s Battlefleet Gothic as it squares off against the oncoming forces of Abaddon the Despoiler, a Chaos Lord who is every bit as charming as his name implies.

The game, developed by French studio Tindalos Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive, runs on the Unreal Engine 4. As the below teaser trailer shows, its a very impressive looking game.

Battlefleet will apparently offer “deep management of every ship composing the player’s fleet, both during and between battles.” True to the 40k universe, a variety of ships can be employed, from small frigates to “gigantic, miles-long battleships.” Impressive. Additionally, every ship will be fully customizable, with weapons, defenses, support sub systems adjustable to player needs. Their crews will also gain experience as they participate in and survive battles.

Focus Home Interactive will be on-site at E3 this coming June to unveil more on Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, so stay tuned.
