War In Ukraine Halts Upcoming Action Platformer REPLACED Until 2023

After a difficult but necessary deliberation Sad Cat Studios, their publisher Coatsink, and their parent company Thunderful have announced a delay on REPLACED, an upcoming 2.5D sci-fi retro-futuristic action platformer until 2023. The war in Ukraine continues to have its own ripple effects within the video game industry, joining the many unfortunate delays along with games such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp.

Sad Cat Studios took to twitter on Wednesday 25, 2022, releasing a statement that detailed the unfortunate announcement to fans. The development studio cited stress from the ongoing war in Ukraine as well prioritizing the physical and mental health of its workers, most of which reside in neighboring regions of the conflict. Due to members of Sad Cat Studios relocating, the studio decided to give its workers enough time to re-settle themselves before jumping back into REPLACED’s development.

Game delays will never be not disappointing to fans, however it is important to keep in mind that no video game can be finished without a remarkable team. Sad Cat Studios, along with Coatsink and Thunderful, have done what was necessary in order to maintain the safety and health of their employees. No video game should come at the expense of the people who worked on it.

In the world of replaced REPLACED, you play as an artificial intelligence trapped in a human body named R.E.A.C.H. Explore and uncover the mysteries in and around this sci-fi retro setting and learn how to be human in a society that has taken a turn for the worst. Sad Cat Studios  seeks to create an exhilarating player experience with the combination of cinematic platformer, pixel art, and free-flow action combat. This necessary delay will allow the Sad Cat Studios developers to fine tune details within their debut game, giving the player a wonderful experience at its release.
